On Stage
Live music is part of Rally 'Round Greenville's fun. Rock with the oldies, tap your feet to blue grass, and enjoy mellow instrumentals. Come early and stay late so you won't miss a single note.
The festival
opens with a free concert with Billy Joe Shaver in the courtyard of
the Lee Street Bar & Grill on Friday night. Saturday will feature
all-day music on two stages, the Lee Street
B & G stage and another at the courthouse.
The music won't be over when the street festival ends! The Threadgill Concert Series will present Guy Clark with Terri Hendrix and Max Stalling on stage at the Municipal Auditiorium. (There is an admission charge for the Threadgill Concert.)
Keep an eye on this space - we'll post more entertainers as they are scheduled.
American Country singer/songwriter Billie Joe Shaver tried out a number of jobs, including a stint at a lumber mill where he lost part of two fingers, before deciding life was too short not to do what he enjoys most. His Old Five and Dimers Like Me album, recorded in 1973, is considered a classic in the outlaw country genre. Shaver's songs have been recorded by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Elvis, Kris Kristofferson, Patty Loveless, and others. His hit "Live Forever" written with his son, Eddy, was recorded by the Highwaymen. The Americana Music Association awarded Shaver their Lifetime Achievement Award in Songwriting in 2002. In 2006, he was inducted in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Shaver has appeared in Greenville with the Threadgill Concert Series.
