Bicycle Event

The OmniSYS Cotton Patch Classic Bicycle Event celebrates its 11th year with a large field of cyclists, some pushing for speed in the USCF sanctioned races and others concentrating on endurance in the 63 mile course.

Racers will ride in the road races on Saturday and in the First Annual OmniSYS Cotton Patch Classic Omnium on Sunday.

Road racers are off at 7:30 a.m. followed by more leisurely riders, who can choose from 21, 31, 41, 54 and 63 mile tour routes and a 5 mile fun ride. The fun ride is a great family route that allows groups to take a leisurely ride, stop at the rest stop, see downtown, enjoy all the Rally entertainment and watch the Lions Mini Grand Prix.

Saturday's tours and road races begin in downtown Greenville and wind through the Hunt County countryside. YMCA and Greenville Rotary Club volunteers provide rest stops and sag wagons for riders.

Sunday's First Annual Omnium races,co-sponsored by the Plano Athletic Cycling Association, begin at 8 a.m. The 1.1 mile criterium race will follow a fast course set up at the McKesson Corp. in Greenville's Airport Industrial Park.. Criterium racing can be described as NASCAR on bicycles - fast, easy to watch, and lots of crashes in the corners!

Both Cotton Patch racing events are USCF certified. They are classified as Division One Texas Cup events. A total of $5,500 in prize money will be won during the two days of racing.

Join the 900-1000 cyclist who will ride and race in Greenville during the Cotton Patch Classic! Registration includes a Cotton Patch Classic T-shirt.

The OmniSYS Cotton Patch Classic is presented by the Greenville Rotary Club and the Greenville YMCA. Proceeds from the event benefit youth programs supported by these organizations.
