Greenville's new Sports park entranceGreenville and the Hunt County area offer a wide variety of recreational activities from dancing to camping and all types of sports.

The City of Greenville owns and maintains eight municipal parks and three lighted ballfields. City parks are open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. year-round.

  • Arnold Park: Playground, grills, picnic tables, basketball, 2300 Jones Street.
  • Carver Field: Lighted ballfield, restrooms, 2504 Carver Street 
  • Graham Park: Pavilions, playground, ballfield, soccer, volleyball, basketball, fishing, grills, picnic tables, restrooms, 800 Walnut Street.
  • JA-LU Park: Swimming pool, playground, soccer, ballfield, volley ball, grills, jogging trail, picnic tables, restrooms, 4807 Stonewall Street.
  • Long Branch Park: Jogging trails, exercise trail, 3000 Joe Ramsey Boulevard.
  • Middleton Park: Playground, grills, picnic tables, basketball, 3600 Spencer Street.
  • Oak Creek Park: Playground, ballfield, soccer, fishing, jogging trail, grills, picnic tables, pavilion, restrooms, FM 1570 & Aerobic Lane.
  • Aunt Char's Kid ZoneWarren Park: Playground, ballfield, grills, picnic tables, pavilion, 3100 Webb Street.
  • Wright Park: Pavilions, playground, grills, picnic tables, tennis courts, in-line hockey court, golf, 4903 Moulton Street.
  • Greenville SportsPark/Nature Trail: Lighted ball fields, soccer fields, basketball court, lighted in-line hockey court, football field, fishing pier, pavilion, restrooms, concession stand, grill, picnic tables, walking trails, creative playground, 2 Leo Hackney Boulevard.
  • Aunt Char’s Kid Zone is more than a playground. The football field-size complex in the center of the Greenville Sports Park is a creative playground with equipment and structures for imagination building play for kids of all ages. Kid Zone was built by community residents in an incredible one week blitz build. The 18,000 square foot site includes scaled-down replicas of local historic buildings.

    SPORTS

  • Greenville has a great youth sports programThe Parks and Recreation Department sponsors youth sports activities and adult softball, volleyball, football, and basketball leagues. The City maintains lighted ballfields and soccer fields in the Greenville Sports Park and other City Parks. The Sports Park includes a football field, a basketball court and a lighted in-line hockey rink. Tennis courts are available at Wright Park and at the Greenville High School and Middle School campuses.

  • The Greenville Independent School District and the Greenville Christian School have a variety of team and individual sports available to their students.

  • The Boys & Girls Club offers sports activities for area youngsters including baseball, softball, tumbling, twirling, drill team, football and cheerleading. Summer day camp is also provided. 4320 Lee Street, Greenville, Texas 75401, 903-455-9233.

  • The YMCA also offers team sports for youth and adults including swim team, baseball, basketball, and soccer. Racquetball, aerobics, hydrobics, swimming and weight training are also offered.     LAKES

Great fishing at nearby lakesSome of the state’s best fishing lakes are located within easy driving distance from Greenville. The Texas largemouth bass record has been broken twice at nearby Lake Fork.

  • Lake Tawakoni: One of the states largest lakes with 200 miles of shoreline, 36,700 acres. Fishing, boating, campgrounds, swimming beaches, picnic areas, water ski areas, weather station.16 miles southeast of Greenville off US 69. Sabine River Authority, Iron Bridge Dam, off FM 47 south of Point has detailed information on facilities. 
    • Lake Tawakoni State Park: The 376.3-acre park has Camp ground5.2 miles of shoreline along the south shore of the lake. The park offers a swimming beach, hiking trails, 40 picnic sites, four lane boat ramp, trailer dump station, 78 multi-use campsites with electricity and water, and a Group Youth Area. Park activities include fishing and boating, swimming, birding, hiking, mountain biking, and nature study.
  • Lake Fork: 27,690 acres. Fishing and boating. 35 miles southeast of Greenville on State Hwy 515. Maps and information available at headquarters at the dam on Hwy 182.

  • Lake Ray Hubbard: Lakeside marinas, campgrounds, leisure home areas, swimming, fishing, boating, sailboat races. 35 miles west of Greenville on I-30. Operated by City of Dallas.

  • Lake Lavon: Campgrounds (one especially for handicapped), day-use parks, motorcycle riding trail, swimming beaches, duck hunting area. 38 miles northwest of Greenville off US 380. Detailed information at headquarters, west end of dam off Hwy 78.

  • Lake Cypress Springs: Piney woods picnic and campgrounds, shoreline parks, swimming beach, fishing, boating. 86 miles east of Greenville accessible from I-30.

  • Cooper Lake Park entranceCooper Lake: One of Texas’ newest lakes includes two public use areas. Located 25 miles northeast of Greenville - accessible from State Hwy 24.
    • Cooper Lake State Park - Doctor's Creek Unit: This 466-acre unit includes 6.2 miles of shoreline. Doctor's Creek offers a swimming beach, playground, hiking trail, picnic pavilion (rental fee, capacity 50), two day-use areas, 50 picnic sites, 42 multi-use campsites with water and electricity, and six screened shelters. There is a trailer dump station for RV campers. The park has a four lane boat ramp and fish cleaning table. There is a sand volleyball court and outdoor amphitheater. Park activities include fishing and boating, swimming, birding, hiking, nature study, nature programs and tours. (Note: Camping and screened shelters in Doctor's Creek Unit are available Friday & Saturday nights only, no reservations.)
    • Cooper Lake State Park - South Sulphur Unit: This 2560-acre unit includes 25.5 Unsupervised swimming areamiles of shoreline. South Sulphur offers a swimming beach, six and two lane boat ramps, three fish cleaning tables, two lighted fishing piers (one handicapped accessible), hiking trail, equestrian trail, group pavilion (100 person capacity), playground, four day-use areas, Handicapped-access fishing piersand volleyball, outdoor amphitheater, 62 picnic sites, 87 multi-use campsites with water and electricity, 15 walk-in tent sites, 20 equestrian campsites with water and electricity, primitive camping aea, 14 fully furnished cabins, 2 limited use cabins, and 21 screened shelters (includes 1 premium shelter with air conditioning). There are 7 shower/restroom facilities. Park activities include fishing and boating, swimming, birding, horse back riding, hiking, nature study, nature programs and tours.

GOLF

Many fine golf courses are near GreenvilleGolf enthusiasts can enjoy a nine-hole golf course maintained by the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department complete with pro-shop and on-site golf pro. The course is located in Wright Park. A nine-hole course is available at Oak Creek Country Club. Webb Hill Country Club offers an eighteen-hole course. 

Other golf facilities include courses in nearby Commerce and Tawakoni as well as a driving range and miniature golf.
