Raytheon adjacent to the Municipal Airport

Companies - and their employees - thrive in Greenville’s healthy business climate. Many local companies are located in the Greenville Industrial park and the Airport Industrial Park, adjacent to the Municipal Airport at Majors Field. These fully-developed industrial parks, with a total of more than 1200 acres, are priced well below the Dallas Metro market.

Greenville is the business and industry center of northeast Texas.

  • The Greenville Commons Shopping Center, anchored by Lowe's, opened early in 2007. Two additional shopping centers are under construction along the I-30 corridor.
  • The Hampton Inn opened in 2006 near Crossroads Mall
  • The new City Greenville Police and Courts Building opened in 2006 in the historic main street area, helping spur the location of a new supermarket and other business expansions in the central business district.
  • A $1.3 million downtown streetscape project was completed this year.
  • A new public transit center is under development on west Lee Street.
  • Healthcare technology developer OmniSYS expanded in 2006 into a 22,000 square foot building in the Airport Industrial Park.
  • Phoenix Metals relocated from McKinney to the Greenville Industrial Park.
  • Presbyterian Hospital's $24 million West Wing addition is currently under construction. The West Wing will house a Cancer Treatment Center and expand the number of available patient beds.
  • Paris Junior College has begun construction of Phase 1 of a new 172-acre campus for the Greenville Center, which will serve up to 2,000 students.
  • Permitting for the $500 million Cobisa Greenville Power Project is near completion.
  • New T-hangars for private and corporate aircraft are under construction at the Greenville Municipal Airport.

Greenville offers retail sites and adaptable existing building for start-up and relocating businesses.

  • L-3 Communications Integrated Systemsis the area’s largest employer, with approximately 4,000 people working in Greenville.
  • Other major local industries include Fleischmann’s Yeast, Cytec Engineered Materials, Masonite International, and The Henry Group.
  • Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville and Glen Oaks Hospital, a mental health/chemical dependency care facility, are the area’s largest non-manufacturing employers, providing work positions for more than 600 doctors, nurses and medical support personnel.

RETAIL : The local retail industry includes such giants as Wal-Mart, J C Penney, Brookshire’s, Belk, Staples, Lowe's, Home Depot, and Beall’s Department Stores, as well as small locally-owned boutiques and specialty shops occupying approximately a dozen strip shopping centers in addition to the downtown retail area.

MEDIA: Greenville has a daily newspaper, the Herald Banner, with a circulation of 11,500. Two radio stations with a total of three airwaves, KGVL, KIKT and KEMM, broadcast the latest in news, sports and weather, as well as offering a variety of music.

FINANCIAL: Local financial institutions hold assets in excess of $337 million. The Economic Development Corporation of the Board of Development is also a capable source of funding for new and expanding industries, as are Municipal bonds with private placement. Businesses and industries relocating or expanding to Greenville may also qualify for Smart Jobs funds, Infrastructure Grants, Real Estate Development Grants, Tax Abatement, and Enterprise Zone incentives.

REAL ESTATE: More than fifteen real estate companies handle the thousands of commercial and residential properties located in Greenville and Hunt County. Many offer services which ensure an easy move for those transferring into the area.

    Picture of the Greenville Industrial Airpark entranceThe Board of Development was founded in the 1940s to attract business and industry to Greenville by providing information, services and development incentives. It has been instrumental in developing the city's two industrial parks.
